Shamwari Private Game Reserve

I had to go back there. Long Lee Manor again (still the only opened lodge in August). But that time, I was there together with two of my three daughters. And it was amazing again! We had our „common african ranger“ Gerhard again on board and he was able to get his girlfriend on the vehicle too. This was a lot of fun for the kids and for me too! It was the foundation of a great friendship and we are still in contact - whenever he had to go back to his boring job as a bookkeeper, because of the lack of tourism during Covid. Long Lee Manor was again a great place to stay! Great rooms, great service, great food. Only for long-staying guests, there could be a little bit more of variation. But I was there for pictures - so I can‘t complain.

Conclusion

With several lodges, great rangers, great service and a huge effort in conservation, Shamwari is still one of my favorite places to stay in South Africa! Especially in times, with less tourism, it felt very private. Some nights, we were the only tourists on-site. Which was amazing in one hand - but sad in the other. I‘m looking forward to be back again at Shamwari and I could recommend it to everybody!
